Nominations for the second Annie Bryant Peterson Award were open during the month of October. During this time, employees of Bryant Real Estate nominated their coworkers who they believed best demonstrated the company's core values of: industriousness, caring, critical thinking, adaptiveness, and integrity. Bryant Real Estate is honored to award the second ever Annie Bryant Peterson Award to Marye Odom, Hospitality Manager of Wrightsville Beach.
Marye oversees all hospitality operations on Wrightsville Beach and is an integral part of our team. Marye was chosen for this award by nominations from her peers and our leadership team for her constant display of our core values: integrity, critical thinking, caring, adaptive, and industrious.
Her peers said that she exudes caring and has "biggest hearts that I have ever met and not only cares about her department doing well but she wants everyone's department to do well." They also said that Marye is the definition of integrity, going as far to say: "Marye always does what is right and fair for her team, the company, and in general. She is a very strongly principled person, and this is the exact definition of integrity – strong morals. When she is unable to determine the best or most fair way to proceed in any given situation, she will always air with caution and do what she would want done for her."
The true epitome of Bryant's core values in Marye is clear in this nomination: "Marye is extremely dedicated and hard working. She does not stop until the job is finished and always does her best to ensure that she has covered all points of failure. Although she is not perfect and would openly acknowledge that mistakes occur, she has never been a clock puncher. If she has to stay late, flex time, pick up jobs to cover her team – she will not stop or leave until she knows that it has been handled. She goes the extra mile to support her team and has never been someone to say that a job is not hers to do, her responsibility, or been anything less than willing to jump in and help. "
Along with receiving the award, Marye was also awarded a monetary bonus, and Bryant Real Estate donated $5,000 each to Marye's charities of choice, COASTAL CANINE RESCUE INC and Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas, two causes that mean a lot to her! It is an honor for Bryant Real Estate to present this award, and to carry on the charitable legacy of our founder, Annie Bryant Peterson.
