Now in its 17th year, the Port City Music Festival is a beloved Wilmington tradition that brings world-class classical music to the North Carolina coast each summer. Founded in 2009 by cellist and conductor Stephen Framil and Wilmington artist Christine Farley, this annual concert series is all about making great music accessible to everyone, whether you’re a longtime classical fan or brand new to the scene.
The festival is a program of CAMERATA PHILADELPHIA INC., a non-profit organization that believes in breaking down musical boundaries. From symphonies and chamber music to opera and even jazz-inspired programs, each concert offers something unique and meaningful. Under the leadership of Music Director Stephen Framil, CAMERATA has performed across the U.S. and internationally, and they serve as the ensemble-in-residence for the Port City Music Festival.
What makes this festival special is its heart. It’s not just about impressive performances (though there are plenty of those); it’s about welcoming the community and creating shared experiences through music. Whether you catch one concert or all of them, this free summer music festival in Wilmington, NC is something worth putting on your calendar. *Some performances require advanced registration due to seating limits.
