Airlie Gardens Butterfly Release

Spend America’s Birthday by watching America’s favorite pastime, baseball. The Wilmington Sharks will play three games over the holiday week, ending in a spectacular firework show. Bring the family and enjoy the game while indulging in hot dogs and peanuts. Watch as The Sharks battle other top-notch college players from across the US. Tickets for each night are available online, starting at $10 for general admission. The games start at 7 pm, but the gates open an hour before the game starts.
Independence Day Fireworks by the Sea & Boardwalk Blast

Experience an early celebration of Independence Day with a captivating beachside firework show. Get ready for an evening of mesmerizing displays as you secure your spot on the beach to enjoy the magnificent fireworks. Don't forget to bring a picnic or grab some delicious takeout from one of the fantastic local restaurants. The festivities kick off with music at the Gazebo Stage around 6:30 PM. Fireworks start at 9 pm and will last for 30 minutes. Keep in mind that this event is weather-dependent, and the schedule may be subject to change without prior notice.
Battle for Independence Road Race

Kick off your Independence Day spiritedly and actively by participating in a thrilling race! Join fellow runners on the morning of the 4th of July for an exhilarating challenge along Wilmington's picturesque Gary Shell Cross City Trail. Whether you opt for the speedy 5K or the leisurely one-mile distance, the race route along Independence Boulevard promises a flat and fast course, attracting competitive athletes and families alike. The race for spectators is free, but if you want to run, you can register online.
