We stayed here and had a great time! When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised as the kitchen had been updated. It was clean and plenty of space for a family of four. There was an excellent view of the beach. We will definitely remember this spot and be back!

Absolutely wonderful view...enjoyed hearing the sound of the ocean from morning 'till night! Easy access to beach. The unit itself, however, could use some updating overall. More comfortable mattresses and deck furniture would be a great place to start.

The rental unit was right on the beach. Great location, clean, and nicely furnished. Checking in and out was very easy. I would recommend this rental and would stay there again. Best vacation in years!

We enjoyed staying at Mermaids Sunrise. We stopped by Bryant Real Estate to grab our keys, and the staff was very welcoming, so everything started off on the right foot. The unit was clean and very conveniently located just steps to the beach. An absolutely breathtaking view! Appliances are in great condition!

Great location. Easy beach access. Kids enjoyed outdoor pool. Not enough seating for the balcony, a small table and chairs would be nice. Toaster didn't work. Upholstered furniture in living room needs a good cleaning.

We enjoyed our oceanfront stay in a clean and comfortable condo. Beach access beside us and an elevator for our elderly mother. Check in was easy and the folks at Bryant were friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

This property has a pest control service that routinely treats for pests and it is managed by the HOA. However, we have staff available 24/7 to assist guest with any issues that may arrive. I hated to leave. So peaceful at that end of the island.
A couple issues my picky husband thinks needs addressed-kitchen cabinets and the screens in the doors.
Everybody needs to try the cheeseburgers from the Sunoco gas station in Carolina Beach!!

Working with Bryant Real Estate was easy comfortable, and transparent(no annoying hidden fees). They were polite, professional, and prompt with all responses.
Mermaids Sunrise was exactly what we were looking for in a beach front, condo vacation rental. It had noticeable updates and personal touches, with light decor throughout the condo. Everything was clean and tidy. The set up was open, functional, relaxing and comfortable. It was a perfect example of less is more!
Linens were being sanitized and plastic sealed between renters, so we had to make our own beds and hang the towels (which is unusual for a cleaning, linens included rental), but a small difference to strive for health and safety. As a family that typically stays in a house rental, we were relieved our stay, while sharing walls with neighbors, wasn't bothersome. Only once or twice day did we actually hear our neighbors.
The views from the shaded balcony were gorgeous. We loved falling asleep to the ocean waves at night and waking up to the sunrises over the water. Mermaids Sunrise was the relaxing beach escape our family needed.

Quiet location, great view. Amenities good, could use updating

This condo provided just what we were looking for - a quiet beach location, easy access to the beach, and a great view. With 2BR, 2BA, living room, kitchen, and a very large balcony, there was plenty of space for our family of four. Bryant realty (the property manager) was very professional. We had an issue with the water heater, and they had someone out who fixed it within a couple of hours. (Make sure to stop at the Bryant office before going to the condo, or you'll be backtracking 15-20 min.)
The mossy rocks in the pictures are gorgeous at low tide, but plan on swimming or bodysurfing, etc. about 50 yards to the south, where there is clear sandy beach. The beach itself had many people walking, fishing, running, etc. for miles, but was never crowded during the week we stayed (early Aug.)
The condo was comfortable, with a queen bed, 2 twins, and a fold-out couch (which we did not use). I would recommend to the property owners to invest in better mattresses and pillows, as they were obviously of a lower grade. The kitchen could use some updating. I wouldn't normally mention it, except that things like pots, pans, knives, utensils should be of higher quality than we found, and better organized if you want to rent out your condo for a premium.
The property also includes use of the fitness center, an indoor pool, and 3 different outdoor pools. We did not avail ourselves of these, but did check them out, and all seemed easily accessible and well-maintained.
Kure Beach itself seems to be primarily residential, which gives it a quieter, more relaxed feel than Carolina Beach or Worthington Beach, but it also means that shopping and restaurants are scarce within walking distance. But we found plenty of great options (esp. for seafood!) within a 10, 20, or 30-minute drive.
Overall, if you're looking for something upscale, this isn't currently that. But you can definitely find a comfortable, refreshing, and relaxing vacation here.

This was our 2nd year renting this unit. Great location right beside the beach access and shower and right across the street from the main pool and indoor recreation center. It is nice and bright with a view of the rocks and a lovely palm tree right off the balcony. Great new washer/dryer unit which comes in handy washing towels. The kitchen could use an update as could the smaller bathroom but it was functional. The main complaint for me was the over flowing trash cans upon arrival and with the 4th holiday trash was not picked up until Tuesday and the trash cans smelled terrible. Maintenance was quick to come take care of one can that did not get emptied once we called them. The parking area under the
unit was very dirty with leaves and sand and some trash but the view and location was worth that inconvenience. Next year maybe I’ll bring a blower!

The trash cans and the complex grounds are ran by the HOA. The trash cans to this complex are located underneath the building and are open for every unit to use. There is no designated trash can for any specific unit. Glad to see that our mainataince staff was able to accommodate your request and remove trash from one of the cans. The Condo was very clean and comfortable. The appliances were outdated and the condo could use some updating. The toaster started smoking before the waffles were done, so I don't recommend anyone to use it. It definitely needs replaced. All in all we had a very good and relaxing vacation and I would book this condo again.

Great vacation location, priced reasonably easy access and easy checkout. Sheets included as well as all amenities necessary for a weekend excursion. Well portrayed on website with no cruel surprises. Wish the weather had been more cooperative but nothing you can do about that. Only suggestion is better directions to the rec center included in the rental. Thanks!

We stayed for a few days over Thanksgiving and it was the perfect getaway. All the needed amenities, clean, perfectly quiet at the end near Fort Fisher. The community pool, while not being used alluring this stay, looked very nice. Really appreciated all the host did to the place to make our experience a good one.

Beautiful condo but annoying to have to pick up parking pass at Rental office. Most of these condos leave the pass on the counter. Also, we've never had so many warnings about not arriving early or leaving late. Especially in November and in such a small place it seemed excessive. I did not like having to pay for linens that we did not use! It was very impersonal service! Stiil, I would probably rent this condo again.

What a great time we had staying in this unit. Love the view of the rocks and the palm tree! Beds were comfortable and the new washer/dryer unit was awesome and well used. My only complaint was there was no dustpan in the unit. Had to pull out the vacuum cleaner every time we swept and that was a lot. Great little unit!

Beautiful view with a palm tree that adds to pictures of your view. Right next to the boardwalk out to the beach. The beach is very close making for easy sleeping if you like hearing waves lapping the shore.
The rocks on the shore were great for pictures in the evening! We had heard complaints about the rocks while swimming but you can easily move 20 or 30 yards to either side to avoid them. Overall we enjoyed our stay with shops and restaurants being an easy distance with plenty to do in the area!

Charming Mermaids cottage . Has all you need. Beautiful view of ocean and located right next to boardwalk to the beach. Great family beach. Washer and dryer very nice. Not close to grocery store. Bring in you food before arrival. Everything was great.

This property was located at extremely amazing location. Nightly the waves would provide the ultimate in nature’s white noise to put you to sleep. The deck was a little piece of heaven, overlooking the beach below and ocean and sky. The unit seemed to be appointed in updated beach theme decor, but could use a facelift on the dated kitchen cabinetry and master bathroom lights and cabinets. The only disappointment with this property was the queen bed. The bed squeaked with every little move you made. There is no mattress pad, but only a thin encasement to protect against liquid mishaps. I truly loved the time on this vacation when I was awake, but so dreaded sleeping in such an uncomfortable bed. Property owners and management companies need to learn that bedding is paramount to your guests’ comfort. I hope with this review, the owners of this property will invest in a new mattress and appropriate upgrades, like a mattress pad for their guests’ comfort. (Take a clue from Marriott.).

This is the PERFECT package of rental and location! The condo is gorgeous, bright and beautiful. It is right on the ocean and at night the sound of the surf breaking will lull you to sleep. It is furnished with EVERYTHING you would ever need, including sun hats if you forgot to bring yours! I brought my own sheets and towels.

I was here with my 11 year old grandson and his grandfather and even though it rained a lot while we were here there was still plenty to keep him occupied and happy. Besides looking for shark teeth on the beach, there is a terrific indoor pool, and just down the road in Kure there is a great arcade. We also went to the board walk in Carolina Beach and rode the rides. We were only there for three days and couldn't fit all the things in that we wanted to do!

I will definitely come back to this condo. It was perfect for us! I only wish I could have brought my dog!! That would have made it perfect PLUS!

Just steps from the beach, which was perfect for us with three little kids for bathroom stops, lunchtime, snacks, etc. Beach was not very crowded and the surf was a good mix of small waves, big waves, and tide pools along the rocks to find little critters. Nice walk to rocky area, gazebo and Civil War momument. Very easy drive to more bustling places like Carolina Beach, Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, etc. Simple amenities; but fine for our purposes. Linens were pretty starchy. View on balcony is partially obstructed by palm tree. Can hear people above you.

This is a beautiful location, surprise danger of hidden rocks at the beach at high tide in front of condo with no posted signs of warning. Anyone running and diving into the water will hit them. We were not informed of the construction project at the recreation center and materials were stored in the pool area. The pool was very dirty and it seemed thaPlt the water was not being filtered. The poolside floor drains were plugged up and water was standing in puddles. The trashcan at the boardwalk to the beach was not emptied after the Memorial day weekend. We only stayed two nights but had to bring our own lines and towels or pay a high price to use theirs. We came from Missouri with daughter-in-law and two grandchildren in our van so having tou pakck two extra bags for linen had us cramped.

Hi Robert- thank you for your feedback! I'm sorry you did not know about the coquina rocks. The first picture for that unit on our website is of the beach in front of this unit, and they are in plain sight. They are also mentioned in the description which reads: "This unit is located on the southern tip of the Island where you can find the unique coquina rocks that bubble up with fresh water." Unfortunately, the HOA at this complex did not notify us of the construction being done, so we did not know the indoor pool would not be available. I am sorry, however, that you were not able to use that facility. Hopefully the three outdoor pools weren't too crowded! I am also sorry that the linen structure was not to your liking. We do include linens on stays longer than five nights, but the rent is increased on those stays to accommodate the linens from the vendor. On shorter stays, like yours, we like to provide the option to rent them instead of including them. This allows us to keep the rent rate low while still giving guests the choice to rent. Thank you again for your comments- we hope you have a great summer!

Welcome to the "Mermaids Sunrise": where the mystical and nature’s beauty meet! This uniquely-designed two-bedroom, two-bath, 2nd floor end unit condo WITH AN ELEVATOR in Ocean Dunes gives you a beautiful view and experience of the Atlantic.

At "Mermaids Sunrise" there is plenty of room for you and your family of six. You'll have plenty of room to relax with the open concept kitchen, dining and living areas that lead out onto the spacious oceanfront deck. The main bedroom is also oceanfront with a Queen bed and attached full bath with it's own entrance to the deck. The second bedroom has two Twin beds and utilizes the second full bath in the hallway. A sleeper sofa in the living room rounds out the sleeping arrangements. The unit is quipped with cable and Wi-Fi. Note that the fireplace is decorative only and does not function.

Ocean Dunes is an ideal year-round vacation spot for families! Located at the southern end of Pleasure Island, in Kure Beach next to Historic Fort Fisher, Ocean Dunes occupies one mile of beachfront with several private beach walkways. Included with your reservation is access to all the amenities Ocean Dunes offers, as well as the Recreation Center. Amenities include three outdoor pools, a children's playground, tennis courts, a basketball court and a shuffleboard court. The Recreation Center has an indoor pool, whirlpool/spa, gym, saunas, and showers. For Recreation Center Hours and Information, call 910.239.1370.

Ocean Dunes is located on the southern tip of Pleasure Island where you can find the unique coquina rocks that bubble up with fresh water. There is plenty of room for soaking up the sun or swimming in the cool waters.

*Please keep in mind that if you are renting a property with a pool during the off-season, it may not be open or available. Pools are usually open from mid- May to September, but dates can vary based on weather, permits, HOA guidelines, inspections, improvements, and unforeseen events.
